Saint Nicholas’ Day is an observance of European origin that is celebrated in some North American communities on Dec. 6, which falls early in the Advent season.
Advent is a time of preparing for the coming of Christ at Christmas, and the start of a new liturgical year. The colour of pink or rose on the Third Sunday symbolizes joy and represents the happiness associated with the arrival of Jesus.
